What is Human Trafficking?
Human trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery in which individuals are coerced, manipulated, or forced into exploitative situations for labor, sex, or other forms of abuse. Traffickers use a variety of tactics, including deception, threats, force, and fraud, to control their victims. These individuals are often deprived of their basic rights, such as freedom, safety, and the ability to make decisions about their own lives.
There are two primary forms of human trafficking:
Sex Trafficking: Victims are forced, coerced, or manipulated into engaging in commercial sex acts against their will. This can include prostitution, pornography, and other forms of sexual exploitation.
Labor Trafficking: Victims are forced or coerced to work in exploitative conditions, often in industries such as agriculture, domestic work, construction, and manufacturing. These individuals may face long hours, unsafe conditions, and little or no compensation for their labor.
Human trafficking does not discriminate—victims come from all walks of life, regardless of age, gender, or nationality. It is a hidden crime that often takes place under the radar, and many victims suffer in silence, unable to escape due to fear, lack of resources, or a lack of understanding about the support available to them.
At Blue Dragonfly, we are committed to raising awareness, supporting survivors, and providing resources to help individuals escape trafficking situations and rebuild their lives.
